In September 2002 the Racial Incidents Co-ordination Team (R.I.C.T.) was set up to support the work of the BME Community Safety Group and to oversee the joint monitoring system for reporting racial incidents. The Team consist of a 1/2 time Policy Officer and a Bi-lingual Development Officer (Racist Incidents). The RICT monitor all incidents reported, identify emerging patterns, carry out investigatory work and liaise with other agencies who can provide support and assistance. The Team also provides support to victims through a dedicated Racial Incidents Officer. This role involves keeping victims fully informed of all work carried out, including criminal justice updates, criminal injuries compensation claims and linking with the witness service where the case goes to court. Victims of racial violence and harassment can report racist incidents to key agencies such as the police, council, health and voluntary partners such as Victim Support. In addition to the joint monitoring form used by staff, incidents can also be reported using a pre-paid self-reporting form which is now available in English, Chinese and Urdu. An online facility is also available on both the Fife Constabulary and Fife Direct websites. Contact: R.I.C.T. on Tel. No.: 01592 413751 Report on line at www.fifedirect.org.uk |
